340 On The Park
Described as Chicago’s first “Green” high-rise condo, 340 On The Park at 340 East Randolph Street has been designed to be energy-saving and environmentally friendly, following the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards established by the U.S. Green Building Council. 340 On The Park’s shimmering exterior is clad with a reflective glass curtain, so that visually, it appears to be an organic part of nearby Millennium and Grant Parks as well as the blue skies surrounding it. At 62 stories, the high-rise is the tallest residential property in Chicago, and offers 343 residential units, including 16 penthouses. A 2.5-story Winter Garden and Club Rooms with fitness center on the 25th floor provide views of the parks and Lake Michigan on the south, Lake Shore Drive and Navy Pier on the north.
As part of its commitment to the environment, 340 On The Park uses renewable resources in its interiors, such as bamboo flooring in living/dining rooms and kitchens. A unique, built-in rainwater collection system irrigates the Winter Garden, and heating/cooling systems are energy-efficient. Residential units–with balconies–range from one bedroom/1.5 baths starting at 1,081 square feet, all the way up to four bedrooms/5.5 baths covering 5,489 square feet. Kitchens are fitted with stainless steel appliances and composite quartz counter tops, with composite marble finish in the bathrooms. The Club Room provides a 25-yard indoor lap pool, and other amenities include a 24-hour doorman and concierge. Retail spaces and indoor parking occupy the lower floors. A pedway leads to the adjacent Blue Cross/Blue Shield building.
340 On The Park is part of Chicago’s Lakeshore East redevelopment project, and is only steps away from the city’s lakefront, Downtown shopping, business offices, cultural, sports, and entertainment centers. The new high-rise was developed through a joint venture between LR Development, Magellan, and NNP Residential & Development Co. 340 On The Park’s LEED certification is determined by third-party architectural and construction firms, which rate a building according to its environmental sensitivity before, during, and after construction, its energy efficiency, and impact on its surroundings.
