Jefferson Tower
Chicago’s Fulton River District in the West Loop promises to become one of the more fashionable residential areas for young urban professionals. Jefferson Tower, currently under construction at 200 N. Jefferson Street, is one of the first new high-rise condos to be completed in the area, and offers 198 units on 24 floors overlooking the Chicago River. Externally, the building features strong vertical lines in long, straight columns reaching from ground level to the tower’s cap. Wide, multi-paned windows lend an airy feel to structure. At street level, the base of Jefferson Tower is of pre-cast, reddish-brown concrete, contrasting with the paler earth tones of the floors rising above it.
Jefferson Tower Initially was designed with units of various sizes, but developer Jameson Development changed focus to target first-time home buyers with affordably priced one-bedroom/one- to 1.5 bathroom units. These range from 623 square feet to 1,072 square feet, and some include a den/guest bedroom. Many have gas fireplaces with a granite surround to add a cozy ambience. The residences feature hardwood flooring, carpeting in bedrooms, and slate tile floors in the kitchens. Kitchens come equipped with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances, and feature a pass-through to the adjacent dining area. Bathrooms in the master suite are finished in marble with granite-topped vanities. All units provide integrated data, voice, and video communications, and are pre-wired for high-speed Internet, cable and satellite TV. All have private balconies with striking views of the city and river.
Amenities include a secure lobby with a 24-hour doorman, receiving room, fitness center, community room with a kitchen, sundeck, bicycle room, private storage, and optional deeded parking. The ground floor offers 8,000 square feet of retail space.
Though still under development, the Fulton River District is rapidly becoming on of Chicago’s hottest new neighborhoods, well known for its trendy night spots, boutique shopping, and eclectic dining. Jefferson Tower is walking distance from the Loop financial and business centers, the world-famous Merchandise Mart and East Bank Club, and is only minutes from North Michigan Avenue.
